The opposition alleges that the AP CID functions as a wing of the YSRCP, having served the party for the past five years. Several TDP leaders, including TDP President Chandrababu Naidu, have been arrested by the AP CID.
This marks the first instance of the state police authority taking action against the YSRCP in the state, under the directives of the Election Commission. A case has been filed against Sajjala Bhargava Reddy, the chief of the YCP social media team, following a complaint lodged by TDP leader Varla Ramaiah.
The CID has initiated proceedings in accordance with the Election Commission’s instructions. The case filed by the CID names Bhargava Reddy and the YCP social media team as accused parties. Additionally, Varla Ramaiah raised concerns that pensions belonging to TDP leader Chandrababu have been halted.
In a detailed complaint, Varla highlighted how IVRS calls under Bhargava’s supervision were utilized to mislead voters and pension beneficiaries.Furthermore, the complaint outlined instances where pensions were directed to be distributed at Chandrababu’s residence.
In response to this complaint, the Election Commission directed the CID to investigate the IVRS calls made by the YSRCP. Subsequently, the CID is expected to submit a report to the Election Commission, after which further actions will be determined.
