New Year celebrations are virtually hours from now and Hyderabad is gearing up for the same. But this time around, the newly formed Revanth Reddy government has started to crack down on law and order regulations in the city.
Hyderabad police had already announced that there will be extensive drunk and drive tests across the city from 8 PM on 31st December. Now, Hyderabad police have deployed new “Drug detection” equipment that will be used across the city.
This program is to contain drug usage during the New Year celebrations and Telangana police are using this technique for the first time. Telangana Narcotics Bureau has procured the drug detection equipment and the same will be used by the police tomorrow, 31 December.
Drug detection tests will be carried out at pubs, party places, and gatherings. This is the first time ever that drug detection tests are to be held on a large scale in Hyderabad and the police are implementing the same tomorrow. Individuals will be tested through this equipment and those found under the influence will face the legal action.
CM Revanth Reddy had already instructed the police and narcotics control department to crack down heavily on drug usage and make Hyderabad a drug-free city. This could be the first step in that positive direction.
