Heavy rains have unleashed chaos in Hyderabad, submerging low-lying areas and causing widespread distress among the city’s residents. Torrential downpours have resulted in severe flooding, with homes inundated and belongings washed away in many neighborhoods.
Areas such as Kukat Pally, Kuthbullapur, Gajularamaram, and Maisammaguda have been severely affected, with water entering houses and reaching up to the first floor in some places.
The situation has been particularly challenging for students residing in private apartments and hostels in the Maisammaguda area, where JCBs and tractors had to be deployed to rescue them from the rising floodwaters.
Furthermore, major roads, including the route from Panjagutta to KPHB, have been waterlogged, causing significant disruptions to daily life. The continuous rainfall has caused canals to overflow, instilling fear among residents about their safety. Police and municipal officials are actively engaged in relief operations to assist affected residents.
Tragically, the heavy rains have also led to fatal incidents. A woman drowned in a canal, and a four-year-old girl lost her life after falling into an open manhole in Pragati Nagar.
In another unfortunate incident, a resident of Madhavi Nagar was electrocuted while attempting to remove water from her home. The rains had inundated the area, and the tragic accident occurred when she tried to switch on a fan.
The persistent rainfall has disrupted food delivery services, causing delays and, in some cases, suspension of orders. Citizens struggling to venture outside are finding it challenging to order food or receive deliveries, while delivery drivers grapple with navigating rain-soaked streets.
Overall, heavy rains have paralyzed Hyderabad, leading to waterlogging, traffic jams, and power outages. Authorities advise residents to exercise caution, stay indoors, and take necessary precautions as more rain is forecasted in the coming days.
