Hyderabad ended 2025 on a celebratory note. As per Excise department statistics, citizens consumed liquor worth Rs 1000 crore in just 3 days. In comparison, 2024 recorded Rs 736 crore during the same period.
The new Excise policy encouraged heavy stocking by newly licensed shops. Telangana has 3620 liquor shops overall. Around 1100 pubs, clubs, and bars collectively purchased liquor worth Rs 4920 crore from depots in December.
Since December 25, total liquor sales crossed Rs 1350 crore. Officials recorded sales of Rs 280 crore on December 29, Rs 380 crore on December 30, and Rs 315 crore on December 31.
Sales crossed Rs 1000 crore in the final 3 days of the year. In total, 8.30 lakh cases of liquor and 7.78 lakh cases of beer were sold. The spike stands out as the city entered 2026.
