Hyderabad power DemandHyderabad, fast turning into a global city, has emerged at the top of major Indian cities with the highest power demand.

According to the latest report from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Hyderabad’s power demand stands at a staggering 4,479 MW for the current fiscal year (2023-24), which is the highest in the country. Following closely is Chennai, with a demand of 4,383 MW.

This surge in power demand can be attributed to Hyderabad’s status as one of India’s fastest-growing cities, driven by a thriving IT sector and a burgeoning industrial landscape.

The influx of professionals from across the country has further intensified this demand, showcasing Hyderabad’s remarkable ascent on the global stage.

Hyderabad’s energy demand has already grown by 12.9 percent in the past six years. As Hyderabad and its environs continue to expand at a rapid pace, the peak power demand is estimated to reach 6,458 MW in the next decade.

The city’s domestic, commercial, and industrial energy requirements are also expected to witness substantial growth, underlining its pivotal role in the state’s energy landscape.
