An incident on Sunday highlights the growing drug problem in Cyberabad, a software engineer cum businessman was apprehended for smuggling drugs from Goa.
The police seized a significant haul of 30 grams of cocaine, valued at INR 10 lakhs, meant for a weekend party.
A few months ago, a 27-year-old software engineer, became entangled in the world of drugs during a trip to Goa. He was initially drawn into the casual drug scene of the tourist destination and soon became addicted to substances like ganja and LSD. Eventually, he began peddling these drugs among his friends back in Hyderabad.
This case is just one of many drug-related incidents in the region where educated software techies are getting involved in peddling. Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda grapple with a concerning increase in drug busts.
The area has become a transit hub for various narcotics, including herbal contraband from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, and synthetic drugs trafficked from Karnataka and Goa.
