On New Year’s eve on December 31, 2025, Hyderabad police will enforce a zero drugs policy across the city. City commissioner VC Sajjanar said special forces have been deployed to ensure strict monitoring and effective implementation of the plan.
Pubs, hotels, restaurants and party venues will remain under close surveillance. Private gatherings at service apartments and hostels will also be monitored. The Commissioner reiterated that all pubs and restaurants must close by 1 am without exception.
Past offenders and known drug peddlars will stay under police watch throughout the week. Authorities warned that any violations by private establishments will invite strict action, including cancellation of licences and further legal consequences.
To prevent overcrowding in residential zones, barricades will be placed at major hubs. These include Maitrivanam, Necklace Road, Tank Bund and KBR Park, where movement will be regulated during peak celebration hours.
People are advised to avoid locations with a questionable history. Celebrations are welcome, but following police guidelines is essential to stay safe and avoid fines or possible jail time during New Year Eve festivities.
