Indian Couple Deported From the U.S. For Selling Curries

Homeland SecurityLiving a decent life as an Indian in America can be expensive, which is why some Indian families with a single source of income turn to part-time businesses, such as selling homemade curries or reselling clothing brought over from India for additional income.

These types of part-time businesses are generally considered harmless. However, if a jealous neighbour or if someone feels that this business is causing disturbance in the neighbourhood due to traffic, they may report it to authorities, leading to the revocation of H1 and H4 visas. In recent times, there have been instances where Indians have been deported for running such side businesses.

Under the visa regulations, individuals on H1 or H4 employment-based visas are not permitted to operate these types of businesses.

Although we were unable to verify the authenticity of the deportation news, it is currently being spread rapidly on social media. Therefore, it is important to remain cautious.
