Drug addiction can lead a person to extreme acts that could include emotional blackmail of family members and breaking the law for money. For the most part, while they promise to give up, they only return, citing some reason or the other. Daevan Patel harassed his parents to the extent that they finally decided to call in the police as they were worried that he might commit some crime.
Patel, 49, is an Englishman of Indian origin, has received a two-year imprisonment for harassing his parents for cash to buy drugs. Incidentally, he is subject to restraining orders, but he continued to do this. According to the orders, he could not meet his parents but could call them if need be.
Right now, Daevan Patel has been sentenced to two years in prison and a five-year restraining order saying that he was bleeding his parents of money and making their lives a misery. Incidentally, Patel visited his parents at least ten times a day for money in case they did not respond to the calls.
Also, Patel happens to be a convicted thief who would yell at his parents to give in to his demands. When the parents could no longer afford to pay him, they called in the police. He is currently in prison at HMP Cardiff in Wales and has decided not to back to West Midlands.
Patel has a history of stealing, shoplifting, and dishonesty offenses.
