Ever since Elon Musk bought Twitter, it’s been a huge headache for Twitter users, and of course, for a large number of people, he laid people off to cut costs. Musk has been fumbling time and again, and the netizens no longer welcome his tantrums.
Previously, an attempt to generate more revenue by charging for blue ticks faced backlash due to concerns of misuse. Advertisers also reduced their spending on Twitter due to the widespread availability of content to non-verified users.
Amidst all this, Musk has made an announcement saying the tweets for blue-tick users will be limited to 800 and 300 for others. Then he turned around and ‘increased’ the limit to 1000 and 500, respectively.
However, Twitter users are not in the mood to put up with his antics. #RIPTwitter and #Twitterdown are already trending on social media. 95% of people use Twitter to read tweets and not post anything. To set a limit of just 1000 tweets for a common user is ridiculous and disastrous, to say the least.
Many are saying this move is going to end Twitter forever. Just because Twitter has become a habit for many, Musk can’t use it to his advantage to generate revenue for himself.
Musk’s latest move is being looked upon as a veiled tactic to make content ‘paid’ on the platform. His goals seem sinister, as he wants people to pay even to read tweets. After all, at the end of the day, Musk is a hardcore businessman and would want the highest possible ROI!
