Kalvakuntla Kavitha

It was reported a while back that Kalvakuntla Kavitha was demanding the Telangana Congress government to put pressure on the central government regarding the merger of 5 villages in Telangana, that are now in Andhra Pradesh.

Today, the news is that the Telangana government has requested the Center to return the 5 villages that went to AP following the division of the state.

Kavitha had highlighted the unique problems of the 5 villages saying the children from the 5 villages go to school in Telangana, while they now belong to AP. In future, when they grow up and go for jobs, which address will be applicable, she had questioned.

Kavitha also shared that the people of 5 villages had to go to Guntur for medical aid as the Arogyasri is applicable in Andhra and not in Bhadrachalam or Kothagudem.

The ambulance has to come from 80 km. Ambulance from Telangana cannot go to them. Hence, the people of 5 villages need a permanent solution. This could not be done in past 10 years.

Hence, I demand the Prime Minister to consider their problem and return the villages to Telangana, said Telangana Jagruthi president Kavitha.

The 5 villages include Purushottapatnam, Gundala, Ettapaka, Kannayagudem and Pichukalapadu. Kavitha also requested Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to take up the issue on humanitarian grounds.

Going by Telangana government’s request to the Center, it looks like Kalvakuntla Kavitha has marked her first victory in the political arena, outside the shadows of father and BRS chief KCR.
