Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has started the exercise to select the next TTD Chairman. YV Subbareddy is already in the post for two terms and with elections coming Jagan wants to use the post for the party’s benefit.
Jagan may select a person from the Kapu community or BC community, sources say. There is also a chance he can give the post to another Reddy.
Reddy community got the most chances for TTD both in YSR and Jagan’s tenures.
If the post goes to the BCs, MLC Janga Krishnamurthy will be the frontrunner. If it is from the Reddy community, Chandragiri MLA, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy or former MP Mekapati Raja Mohan Reddy will be the one.
There are no names heard from the Kapu community right now. Sources say that there are as many as 20 aspirants this time for the post. Given the electoral calculations, it will be a BC or Kapu candidate this time.
TTD has become the center of controversies ever since Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power. We will have to see if at least a non-controversial decision will be taken this time.
