Kadapa District is a stronghold of the YSR Congress. The Reddy Community is a dominant force in Politics here.
It was a bastion of Congress during the YSR’s rule, and later it was passed on to the YSR Congress after his demise.

But then, it looks like the Kadapa fort is crumbling.
In the recent Assembly elections, the YSR Congress is left with only three seats out of the total ten seats. Even Jagan’s majority was reduced in this election.

One of the three seats is Jagan’s seat, and another seat is due to the BJP fielding a weak candidate.
YSR Congress even lost the Kadapa Assembly seat, a stronghold, due to the support of Reddys and the Minorities.

The Government already disqualified Kadapa Mayor Suresh Babu of the YSR Congress Party, citing violations of municipal regulations, as outlined in an inquiry report by the Vigilance and Enforcement Department.
And now, Mydukuru Municipal Chairman Chandra, a senior YSRCP leader, submitted his resignation to the party.
Chandra was trying to meet Jagan Mohan Reddy for the last three months but could not get through.
Settipalli Raghu Rami Reddy, who won as an MLA in 2014 and 2019, got defeated in 2024 and became inactive in the party since then.
Mydukuru is again a Congress/YSR Congress Stronghold, and YSR Congress is in sleep mode in that constituency.
A similar situation prevails across the native district of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
But then, Jagan seems not to be interested in speaking to the leaders and instilling some confidence.
YSR Congress has been in autopilot mode for the last year.
The party is doing nothing and is hoping that anti-incumbency will automatically build by the time of the next elections.
Jagan Mohan Reddy is spending most of his time in his Bengaluru Yelahanka Palace. And is occasionally coming to Andhra for meeting his jailed leaders or any important occasion.
At present, the focus is more on the Liquor Scam in which a Jagan’s relative and a Full-time Director of Bharathi Cements were arrested, and all eyes are on their statements, which could lead to the Tadepalli Palace.
