Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy seems to be targeting Supreme Court Judge, Justice NV Ramana who is tipped to be the next Chief Justice of India. He wrote a long letter to the current Chief Minister making allegations on Ramana.
He alleged that Ramana at the behest of Chandrababu Naidu is attempting to destabilize and topple the democratically elected government by influencing the rooster of judges in Andhra Pradesh High Court. This is a serious allegation and if not proved can land Jagan in serious trouble.
“The letter is full of allegations. The on-record material we have indicates that the allegations are on assumptions that Ramana is acting at the behest of Naidu and he got benefited by Amaravati land deals,” a legal expert opined.
“There are no proofs to pin down Ramana. If one believes Ramana is acting in favor of Chandrababu, the allegations will look right. If not, there is nothing in those allegations. But the courts never work on perceptions and assumptions. The CJI may have to be in Jagan’s shoes to understand the merit of the complaint,” he added.
“Right from the days of YSR, there used to be an allegation that Chandrababu influences judiciary. Jagan seems to be believing that as well no matter what. This is also an assumption that all his Government decided are right and wrongly struck down the Government. But we should remember that the Supreme Court has upheld all most all the judgments of the High Court whenever the State Government went for appeal. He seems to be extremely uneasy by the fact Ramana is becoming the CJI at the time, the Supreme Court had decided to dispose of the cases on Public Representatives including Jagan. Sensing trouble, the AP CM is doing everything to stop Ramana getting to the helm,”
