A crucial passage of Indian politics got concluded recently in the form of the students that happened at the famous Jantar Mantar area in Delhi. This resulted in tremendous success for students who could finally get education minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign his position.
However, the nature of these protests invited police cases and subsequent legal action and the matter has reached the Supreme Court as well.
There is argument and counter argument on whether the Supreme Court must remove the police cases that failed against students and Gen Z folk who protested. However, there was a very strong argument made by the petitioner against removal of these cases.
“Tomorrow Generation Alpha, Beta, Delta will come,” a petitioner warned the Supreme Court on Wednesday while opposing any political decision to withdraw criminal cases against the Gen Z student protesters, arguing that doing so would set a dangerous precedent.
It is evident that the petitioner is arguing very hard on behalf of the government and the Police department and is calling for sustenance of the police cases filed against the youth.
But this is not the end of the road as it is the Supreme Court that must decide the outcome. At the fundamental level, permitting students to fight for their rights and needs is always going to be a part of the democratic spirit. But at the same time, sustenance of law and order is also extremely important.
So we have to patiently wait and see what would be the final budget that would be delivered by the Supreme Court Court in this case.
