For the past few days, one news has been making headlines in Telangana apart from the W Asia situation. It revolves around senior leader and ex minister Jeevan Reddy. On Wednesday, he finally submitted his resignation to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.
The PCC leaders tried to pacify Jeevan Reddy and when that failed, the AICC got into the picture. However, on both occasions, Jeevan Reddy remained stubborn.
Though he has expressed his concern over certain developments and decisions by Revanth Reddy government, his main grouse is about other party members joining the Congress despite Congress having a majority. Though the bone of contention was joining MS Sanjay Kumar into the party. Jeevan Reddy said this was done without his knowledge and it meant a huge setback for committed Congress workers in Jagityal.
Jeevan Reddy also complained about the municipal elections saying 30% of the members were suggested by his opponent Sanjay Kumar. As always, in tune with many senior Congress leaders, he complained about not being due respect in the party. He says he will tour the villages from Thursday and announce his future plans after that.
Like Rajagopal Reddy, many feel Jeevan Reddy’s obstinate stance is just an attempt to grab attention. Those in Congress circles feel he can think of resting for a while and get back to public life.
But Congress party goes by the decision of the High Command. It remains to be seen what Kharge and Rahul Gandhi will decide.
