BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has withdrawn her petition in the Supreme Court, challenging her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Kavitha’s lawyer submitted before the Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Bela M Trivedi that they are withdrawing the petition against the ED.
Yesterday, the ED has claimed that Kavitha paid Rs. 100 crores to the top Aam Aadmi Party leaders inorder to get favours in the Delhi Liquor Policy. ED named Delhi’s Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodiya as the co-conspirers of this scam, along with Kavitha.
Kavitha filed a petition in the Supreme Court yesterday challenging her arrest. However, she withdrew it today. According to the sources, the Supreme Court found Kavitha’s petition to be defective. Reportedly, the court asked for corrections.
The case will be taken up for hearing once the corrections are made and fresh petition is filed. It is being heard that senior advocates Mukul Rohatgi or Kapil Sibal may take up Kavitha’s case. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
Kavitha was arrested by the ED officials in Hyderabad on March 15. She was kept in remand till March 23.
