The other day, BRS chief KCR took many by surprise as he announced that he is contesting from not one but two constituencies in the coming elections. He announced his candidature from the customary Gajwel and then Kamareddy.
Now, it is understood that this is a part of KCR’s elaborate plan to block Kamareddy constituency for his daughter Kavitha.
There are reports that KCR plans to resign the Kamareddy MLA post after he wins from there and then field Kavitha from the constituency in the by-election.
KCR’s win in Kamareddy not just strengthens the BRS in the Northern Telangana belt, it also creates a soft launch pad for Kavitha in the constituency. It also eliminates the risk of her losing from here if she is directly fielded.
So, essentially, KCR is blocking the Kamareddy constituency for Kavitha. For this plan to emerge victorious, KCR will have to register a thumping victory by taking on Congress’s Shabbir Ali.
Also, there are reports that Tollywood veteran Vijayashanthi plans to take on KCR from Kamareddy by contesting as BJP candidate. So, things might not be straightforward for KCR.
