KCR Family’s Safe Game In Tough Times!

KCR-Kavitha-Kalavakuntla

Since the formation of BRS, its founder K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family has been active in the participation of the Lok Sabha elections. For the first time in two decades, KCR’s family decided to stay away from Lok Sabha polls.

KCR formed Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now BRS) in 2001. After its formation, he contested for Lok Sabha in 2004 and won from Karimnagar. In 2009, he represented Mahabubnagar and won the seat.

In 2014, KCR contested from Medak Lok Sabha and Gajwel Assembly constituencies. However, after becoming the Chief Minister of Telangana in 2014, he decided to stay away from Lok Sabha and resigned his MP post.

In 2014, his daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha won the Lok Sabha seat from Nizamabad. She contested in the 2019 elections as well but lost to BJP’s Dharmapuri Aravind. However, she backed out from the 2024 elections and the Nizamabad ticket has been given to Bajireddy Govardhan.

This is the first time in the last 20 years that KCR’s family members are not competing in the Lok Sabha elections. It is heard that the family decided to stay away from polls this year due to unfavourable survey reports. Looks like the defeat in the assembly elections has severely affected KCR’s brand in Telangana.
