The distance between Hyderabad and Vizag is 676 km, and you usually spend about 12 hours on the road. Soon, you will save 125 km and cut travel time by five hours, making your journey much faster.
This change will happen once the Khammam-Devarapally highway is completed by the National Highways Authority of India. If work stays on schedule, you can use this route by January 2026 without delays.
Once the greenfield highway opens, you won’t need to pass through Vijayawada to reach Vizag. You can directly drive via Khammam-Devarapally, covering Eluru and East Godavari along the way.
The highway is being built at a cost of Rs 2214 crore. It will improve freight and logistics, cut fuel usage, and save time. Land acquisition issues had delayed progress earlier, but NHAI has already resolved them.
Cars, buses, lorries, and other heavy vehicles will use the new highway. For tax collection, 11 toll booths will be set up across the stretch to ensure smooth travel and efficient management.
