Konda Murali, husband of Minister Konda Surekha, faces possible disciplinary action after reports of growing tensions between Ministers Konda Surekha and Ponguleti reached CM Revanth Reddy. Sources say the CM is upset with how the situation has unfolded.
Murali, also a Congress leader, complained to the AICC that Ponguleti’s company was getting contracts for the Medaram jatara. He accused Ponguleti of interfering in endowments matters, further straining relations between the two leaders.
Murali recently appeared before the disciplinary committee over his comments on MLAs. This time, strong rumours suggest the Congress might suspend him.
The Telangana government considers Medaram jatara’s infrastructure work a key project. But the rift between Ministers has disrupted preparations. Differences between Warangal Ministers and MLAs have also deepened. Frustrated by the chaos, CM Revanth Reddy reportedly sent a detailed report to the party high command.
For months, the Konda couple’s relationship with Warangal MLAs has remained tense. Disciplinary committee chairman Mallu Ravi earlier advised Murali to cooperate and avoid internal conflicts. Murali agreed but later complained again, accusing Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy of interfering in Warangal politics.
Reports suggest CM Revanth Reddy is angry with Murali’s repeated defiance. The ongoing infighting reflects poorly on the CM’s control over his Cabinet, prompting him to take the issue seriously.
With major challenges already on his plate—like the Jubilee Hills by-election, local body polls, 42% BC reservations, Banakacharla, and DCC appointments—the Ministerial feud has added to Revanth Reddy’s workload. Congress sources say the CM might soon approve disciplinary action, possibly leading to Konda Murali’s suspension.
