The ACB had designated the former MA&UD Minister K Taraka Ramarao as A-1 in the Formula-E Car Racing Event Scam.
The case is regarding the misappropriation of Rs 55 crore in organising a Formula E race which was held in Hyderabad last year during the BRS regime.

And there are speculations that the arrest may happen any time now. The Government Sources have revealed that Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has already approved the prosecution of the Former Minister.
Meanwhile, there is a theory doing rounds on social media that the arrested leaders will get Public sympathy and will become the Chief Ministers.

These are the little mercies for the BRS Supporters. But then, this theory is not as fancy as it appears.
Jagan Mohan Reddy got arrested in 2011 and spent sixteen months in jail. In the immediate election in 2014, his party did not win. The Bifurcation played an important role in that election and people voted Chandrababu Naidu to steer the state out of the trouble.

In 2014, Revanth Reddy got arrested in Cash for Vote scam. He had to wait around a decade to become the Chief Minister. He did not become the CM in the immediate election after his arrest. More than the arrest, the anti-incumbency on KCR and Revanth Reddy’s persistence helped Congress win. The jail has got nothing to do with Revanth Reddy becoming the CM.
Only Chandrababu Naidu won the immediate election after his arrest. Naidu spent more than 50 days in jail. The jail factor certainly played a role but it is not the central reason for TDP+’s landslide victory in the recent elections.
Except for Chandrababu’s, the remaining two arrests happened far away from the elections and by the time of the election, the arrest never really mattered.
If KTR is arrested now, the elections are going to be four years away. So, the arrest is unlikely to play any role.
No leader would like to rot in jail for this midwife’s tale like theory. The coming days will be definitely tough for KTR and the BRS Supporters.
