Former Minister Perni Nani was the face of Jagan’s Government when he is in the cabinet. He has become relatively inactive after losing his cabinet berth.
Meanwhile, the latest surveys of Prashant Kishor’s team reveal that the former Minister is behind if elections are held today. Former Minister Kollu Ravindra from TDP is ahead in the race.
The victory will be a landslide if TDP and Janasena have an alliance here.
Lack of availability in the constituency, over importance to his son, and ignoring the cadre are said to be the reasons for this trouble.
Even a section of the own community people is angry with Perni as Jagan tried to use him against Pawan Kalyan.
Ever since the Machilipatnam constituency came into effect in the delimitation in 2009, TDP only won once here. Kollu Ravindra won in 2014.
In the 2019 elections, Nani won this seat with a majority of around 6,000 votes.
