Massive Crackdown On Ganja in Uttarandhra

Nara Lokesh promised during his “Yuvagalam” if TDP govt come into power it will eradicate Ganja completely within 100 days. The Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh is making a determined effort to eradicate the widespread issue of cannabis cultivation and smuggling, which had become rampant during YS Jagan’s tenure.

With a strong focus on de-intoxicating the state, the police forces, especially in the Uttarandhra districts, are intensifying their crackdown on this illegal trade. Special police teams have been mobilized to tackle the ganja racket that has deeply affected streets and educational institutions.

In the past six weeks, several interstate smuggling networks have been dismantled. The crackdown spans multiple states, including Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and the borders of Visakhapatnam. Thousands of kilograms of ganja have been seized during these operations. A strategic approach is being employed, targeting both state and non-state smugglers.

In particular, 27 special police teams have been deployed across key districts like Alluri Sitaramaraju, Anakapalli, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, and Srikakulam. These teams have been equipped with advanced vehicles to enhance their mobility and effectiveness.

Between August 20-27, the efforts yielded significant results, with 1,872 kg of ganja being seized, and vehicles worth Rs. 94 lakhs confiscated.

The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) is playing a critical role in this fight, aiming to protect children and youth from being drawn into addiction. The focus is also on dismantling the networks that encourage tribals to cultivate ganja for profit, offering long-term relief to affected communities.
