From laying the foundation stone for Amaravati in 2015 to inaugurating the Bhogapuram International Airport in 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visits to Andhra Pradesh have largely revolved around development.
Since taking office in 2014, Modi has visited Andhra Pradesh around 15 times for official programmes and election campaigns. While politics has always been part of those visits, many were linked to major infrastructure and connectivity projects.
Bhogapuram is the latest milestone. After years of planning, political changes and delays, the airport is finally operational. Its inauguration also reflects the current coordination between the Centre and the Chandrababu Naidu government.
That coordination could prove important. Large projects such as Amaravati, Polavaram, industrial corridors and railway expansion need both the Centre and the State to work together. When that happens, decisions tend to move faster.
Of course, many projects are still under construction and their success will depend on execution, not announcements.
For the NDA, the focus now seems to be shifting from laying foundation stones to completing long-pending projects. And for the people of Andhra Pradesh, that is what matters most.
After around 15 visits over 12 years, Modi’s Andhra Pradesh journey is entering a new phase. The next political narrative will be shaped less by promises and more by what is delivered on the ground.
