Around Six years after the state Bifurcation, Modi Government had decided to have a separate governor for Andhra Pradesh and appointed Odisha BJP Senior Leader, Bishwa Bhushan Harichandan as the Governor. There were rumours that ESL Narasimhan may be changed as well.
Speculations are rife that Telangana may have a new Governor as well. But then it does not look like the case now. President of India has appointed new Governors for Six more States – West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, and Bihar.
Political Experts say that if the Union Government had plans to replace Narasimhan, they would have announced a new Governor in this bunch. Narasimhan is the only UPA appointee Governor who is still in Office. His close proximity to National Security Adviser, Ajith Doval helped him, many say.
Narasimhan who is in the office since 2009 is one of the oldest serving Governors in the Independent India.
