A key YSRCP leader and former MLA, Vallabhaneni Vamsi, received a major setback on Thursday. A new case has been registered against him at the Machavaram police station.
The complaint was filed by a person named Sunil. He alleged that in July 2024, Vallabhaneni Vamsi and his followers physically attacked him.
Based on Sunil’s complaint, the Macharam police registered a case against Vamsi and eight others. The incident has added to the legal troubles already surrounding the former MLA.
Vallabhaneni Vamsi is currently out on bail in the Satyavardhan kidnap case. In 2023, he and his followers allegedly attacked the Gannavaram TDP office.
Following that incident, witness Satyavardhan filed a case against Vamsi. It was later alleged that Vamsi and his followers kidnapped Satyavardhan and threatened him to withdraw the complaint.
Satyavardhan’s family then approached the police with a complaint regarding the kidnapping. This led to further action against Vallabhaneni Vamsi.
After the Chandrababu government came to power, Vamsi was arrested and sent to jail. He remained in custody for 137 days before securing bail.
With the registration of this new physical assault case, questions are being raised about Vamsi’s future legal course. It remains to be seen whether this case will lead to his re-arrest.
