The YCP government is trying all it can to stay in the eye of the public as AP heads for polls in three to four months from now. One such attempt is assembling YSR statues across the state in huge numbers.
The issue here is that the YCP government has been strategically placing these statues in public-crowded places. They are going to an extent where these statues are being assembled even on highways and busy town roads.
A media outlet surveyed to find that 115 of the 243 YSR statues in AP that were assembled in recent months don’t even have valid permission. They are just being assembled by local YCP leadership and they have no regard for public convenience when it comes to this aspect.
In Vizag, Tirupati, Nandyal, and several other places, YSR statues are being placed on busy roads. In places like Kadapa and Anantapur, they have gone a step ahead and assembled these statues in national highways. They are placing these statues at three-way or four-way connecting roads. This runs the risk of accidents at night.
In Nandigama, NTR district, the authorities removed Gandhi’s statue and YCP leadership quickly brought up YSR’s statue there. There are several such instances where other statues are bing replaced by YSRs, say reports.
With these statues, there is serious traffic congestion in many areas and them being on highways as well means, there is a risk of accidents. Needless to say, these statues will be covered up once the election code comes into effect. But that isn’t stopping YCP from putting up YSR statues as they wish all across the state.s
