The TDP’s significant influence within the NDA government has become apparent, especially considering the importance of TDP President Chandrababu Naidu’s relationship with key BJP leaders. During his recent Delhi tour as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Naidu met with 12 ministers over two days, highlighting his strategic importance. His meeting with Nitin Gadkari, the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, was particularly noteworthy.
Naidu’s long-standing rapport with BJP leaders such as Murali Manohar Joshi, Nitin Gadkari, Venkaiah Naidu, Piyush Goel, and Uma Bharathi has paid off. Despite the TDP not being part of NDA, Naidu has leveraged these relationships to secure numerous projects for Andhra Pradesh.
One of the most significant developments is the central government’s commitment to developing Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The NDA government has approved the construction of a 189 km outer ring road (ORR) around Amaravati, utilizing the latest technology and an investment of Rs. 25,000 crores. This project is expected to transform the infrastructure and connectivity of the state.
In addition to the ORR, several other key infrastructure projects have been approved. A 6-lane greenfield expressway between Amaravati and Hyderabad will shorten the distance between the two cities by 70 km, enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth.
Another significant project is the long greenfield highway connecting Kodikonda in Srisatyasai district to Medarametla with Amaravati, spanning 90 km. These projects are expected to bring about radical changes in the state’s infrastructure within the next two to three years.
Moreover, the Vijayawada East Bypass has received the green signal, further improving connectivity within the state. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has assured Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of the central government’s support for these transformative projects, which are set to change the face of Andhra Pradesh, enhancing connectivity and development across regions, including Rayalaseema.
