The current Legislative Council chairperson Koyye Moshenu Raju is under the radar of 5 Legislative council members who resigned from the Council.
The 5 members belonged to the YSRCP. The YSRCP has already complained to Moshenu Raju that the members defected from the party.
Moshenu Raju held talks with two members and both of them insisted they resigned on their own. Incidentally, the chairman hasn’t accepted the resignations formally so far.
Holding it against him, the 5 MLCs have now decided to target Moshenu Raju who was elected the chairman of Legislative Council in 2021. They are preparing to pass a no-confidence motion against him.
The MLCs are making plans to move the no confidence motion soon. If that happens, YSRCP will be in trouble. The party has just 11 MLAs in the Assembly and they don’t attend the Assembly sighting frivolous reasons. But YSRCP has 32 MLCs in the Council.
The MLCs are pretty active in the House and huge arguments happen between the opposition party and the ruling party. With the resignation of 5 MLCs, the number will fall to 27. And if the no-confidence motion against Moshenu Raju will get passed, the YSRCP will lose a key post. The topic is now being widely debated in AP political circles as the motion will lead to identity crisis of the party.
Already with Botsa Satyanarayana out of scene due to health reasons, the party has lost one of its strong pillars in the Council. It is being said Varudu Kalyani would be made the LoP in the Council. And now the news of no-confidence motion has shaken YSRCP leaders.
