Vishaka Steel Plant is playing a major role in averting the Oxygen Crisis in the country during the pandemic. The Steel Plant is producing 100 tonnes of Oxygen. The other day, Oxygen Express carrying seven tanks of Oxygen left to Mumbai.
This is the very PSU that the Union Government is keen on privatizing. The State Government tried many a time to evade the responsibility saying that it belongs to the Union Government. When Opposition criticized the state government for doing nothing, the ruling party would just say it is a subject of the central government and their role is very limited.
But then, YSR Congress mouthpiece, Sakshi is trying to take credit for the Oxygen supplied from the plant. In an article titled ‘Apadhbandhavi Andhra’, Sakshi says the State Government is helping the COVID patients in Andhra Pradesh and several states in the country with the Oxygen from Vishaka Steel Plant.
The fact is that the state government has no role in this. The Union Government has been allocating the oxygen from this plant to various states based on the requirement and severity of the COVID-19 cases. Andhra Pradesh is also allotted from the plant.
