The government of Telangana’s “Operation Musi” has been resulting in severe outrage among citizens residing in the Musi river catchment areas of Hyderabad.
Since yesterday, the officials started visiting the music catchment areas and are marking the houses which fall under the river bed. However, people residing in areas around Musi are severely condemning this program.
People are crying in front of officials, begging them not to do anything to their houses. They have been holding protests against this operation.
A person also threatened to set himself on fire by pouring petrol on himself in protest against this act. In some areas, residents are clashing with officials, attempting to drive them away.
Today, revenue, municipal, and electrical officials visited the Langar Hauz area to mark houses that fall within the Musi riverbed. However, local women resisted, trying to block the officers from marking the houses.
Meanwhile, Defense Colony residents staged a protest in front of the Langar Hauz Police Station, leading to a major traffic jam.
In Chaitanyapuri, residents and corporators questioned the officials, asking why their houses were being marked despite having legal registrations and committing no violations.
Overall, Operation Musi is creating huge unrest in areas surrounding the Musi River as there is widespread public opposition to this government’s initiative.
