Like Eagle, HYDRAA, Body For Food Safety: CM

Osmania biscuit hygiene concerns Hyderabad

Osmania biscuits are not just a biscuit. They are the heart of Hyderabad’s chai culture. One cannot think of Hyderabadi chai without the sweet and salty Osmania biscuit.

Recent raids across Hyderabad have shown how the biscuits are made in unhygienic conditions with chemicals and rotten eggs. Media was full of visuals for a couple of days. Today, the situation is such that one thinks twice before biting into an Osmania biscuit. Given that many are health conscious and given the threat of colon cancer even in young people, the videos really scared the daylights out of Hyderabadi citizens.

Then there were raids on rotten chicken. Ever since Revanth Reddy government came to power, food raids have become common and the citizens are now scared to eat in small eateries and bakeries.

Citizens are concerned of the widespread network of operators who use such sub-standard products and hazardous chemicals.

Gauging the mood of citizens, CM Revanth Reddy has announced that a separate body will be formed in the state for food safety. Like Eagle for drugs and HYDRAA for encroachments, the government will soon come up with a body to carry out food contamination and adulteration. Incidentally, there is FSSAI to monitor safety standards. But many small-time and even big outlets get away by putting fake FSSAI stickers.

The netizens are happy with CM’s decision as a true Hyderabadi can never compromise on his chai time by not having an Osmania biscuit.
