Ahead of the parliamentary elections, the ruling Congress party has intensified its recruitment efforts. The party is specifically targeting the joint Rangareddy district, which is a stronghold for the BRS.
The strategy aims to deliver an irreparable blow to the main opposition Car Party.
As part of this initiative, Congress is attempting to influence the family of ex-minister and MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy.
It is known that, along with Mahender Reddy, his wife, Vikarabad ZP Chairperson Sunitha Reddy, recently met CM Revat Reddy.
Sunitha Reddy’s family is prepared to resign from BRS and join Congress, as they have been promised the Chevella MP ticket.
In a statement, Sunitha Reddy mentioned that this decision was made to contribute to the reconstruction of Telangana.
ZP Chairperson Patnam Sunitha Reddy and her son Rineeshareddy will officially join the Congress, along with their followers.
This event is scheduled to take place in the presence of Congress state affairs in-charge Deepadas Munshi and CM Revanth Reddy on Friday.
Several public representatives and chief leaders from BRS in the joint district are expected to join Sunitha Reddy in the Congress procession.
Preparations have been made for a massive rally from Mahender Reddy’s residence in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills to Gandhi Bhavan. Meanwhile, Sunitha Reddy has been elected as ZP Chairperson for the third consecutive time.
She has previously served as the Chairperson of the Joint Rangareddy Zilla Parishad twice and currently holds the position of Chairperson of Vikarabad ZP.
In the 2018 general elections, Mahender Reddy’s brother Narender Reddy won the Kodangal Assembly election, defeating the current Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Before the 2023 general elections, the Patnam family was supposed to join Congress, but KCR managed to convince them otherwise.
This is the reason Congress has pledged to offer Sunitha Reddy the Chevella MP seat.
Additionally, former mayor of GHMC Bontu Rammohan, his wife, Charlapalli corporator Bontu Sridevi, and one of the former chairmen of MBC Corporation are expected to join Congress today.
