Speaking at the Social Meet on the occasion of Janasena Formation Day, Party President Pawan Kalyan confirmed that he is contesting from the Pitapuram Assembly Segment.
He also expressed doubts about contesting as an MP.
“I will soon decide to contest as an MP or not in some days. There are Yeses and Nos as well. In my heart, I want to become an MLA. So I do not want to comment on it now. I will decide after talking to elders,” Pawan Kalyan said.
Pawan Kalyan is rightly rethinking about the offer of BJP asking him to contest as an MP.
It will be a suicidal step if Pawan Kalyan contests from two seats (From Parliament and Assembly).
Voters of both constituencies may get confused and there is a danger of defeating him in both seats.
If Pawan Kalyan contests for Parliament, it will send a wrong signal that he is not confident of the future prospects in the Assembly.
Janasena supporters are already disappointed and it will further deject them. They will have no motivation to come out and vote.
This will severely hinder the Pawan Kalyan’s target of Jagan-Mukt Andhra Pradesh.
Political Experts say this is a ploy by the BJP high command. After strategically weakening Janasena, the BJP will pressure Pawan Kalyan to merge the party.
Meanwhile, contesting from Pitapuram for the Assembly is a good move.
There are 91,000 Kapu community votes in Pitapuram, making things easy for Pawan Kalyan.
Also, Pitapuram comes under the Kakinada Parliament. In Pitapuram, the Glass Symbol will be in both the Assembly and Parliament EVMs.
Also, East Godavari is the strongest district of Janasena. Pawan Kalyan contesting from there will have an impact on the neighboring seats as well, Janasena believes.
The only issue is with Varma who is the TDP in charge there. Varma is threatening to contest as an Independent. In 2014, Varma contested as an Independent and won.
Chandrababu should talk to Varma and convince him not to contest as a Rebel.
