The CBI has filed counter affidavit to the Pennar group squash petition over its involvement in the Jagans illegal assets case. Penna group which allegedly being benefited from the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy regime facing quid pro quo allegations.

At the time of late Rajasekhar Reddy was CM, Penna group allegedly invested in the Jagan’s companies about Rs.68Crores for being benefited in the land allotment to the group companies. For allotment of 237 acres in Yadiki mandal of Anantapur district to Penna companies then the group chairman Pratap Reddy invested Rs.20crores in the Jagathi Publications in December 2007. Also CBI pointed that the illegal allotment of limestone mining leases in Kurnool and the unlawful benefits availed by the groups star hotels constructed in Banjara Hills by the government.
The CBI also gathered evidences of the benefits accrued from the illicit means by the Penna group. The High court will examine the case on 23rd January, 2016.
