The phone-tapping case has been one of the sensational scandals in Telangana in the recent past. It has been alleged that the former BRS government tapped the calls of various influential personalities in the state, with the help of police officers.

In the latest development, the Nampally court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the Special Investigation Branch (SIB) ex-chief, Prabhakar Rao. He is the A1 in this phone-tapping case. Along with Prabhakar Rao, the warrant was issued against a news channel’s owner as well.

Today, the Nampally court inquired the petition filed by the police to arrest Prabhakar Rao. Upon hearing the case, the court issued an arrest warrant under CRPC Section 73. Until now, four police officers were arrested and sent to remand in this phone-tapping case.

According to the statements of the arrested officials, Prabhakar Rao played a key role in damaging evidence in the tapping case. As soon as the case was registered, he flew abroad.

Police officials have already issued lookout notices for Prabhakar Rao at all airports. To obtain a red corner notice or engage Interpol officers, court permission is required. Thus, a petition for Prabhakar Rao’s arrest warrant was filed and it was granted today.
