Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu started his Amaravati tour by visiting the demolished Praja Vedhika site which was the first witness to Jagan’s tyrannical rule.

Praja Vedhika is the Grievance Hall constructed near Chandrababu Naidu’s Undavalli Residence so that the Chief Minister can interact with the people and also have some review meetings.

After coming to power, Chandrababu wrote to the government to allot the hall so he could meet the people as the opposition leader.

The then Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to work from his Tadepalli Residence. So Chandrababu asked for the Praja Vedhika.

But Jagan Mohan Reddy was in no mood to honor anything Chandrababu asks for. He had a Collectors’ Meeting immediately at the Praja Vedhika and announced that the structure would be demolished as it was an illegal structure with no permissions.

This was Twenty-Four days after taking oath as the Chief Minister.

Jagan announced that the demolition of illegal buildings will start right from Praja Vedhika and no illegal structure will be spared.

There was a wide criticism of wasting public resources but high on power, Jagan did not care for it.

The fact is that Jagan demolished Praja Vedhika just because Chandrababu asked for it.

In fact, Praja Vedhika is a makeshift structure. It can be dismantled and can be erected at some other place. But Jagan still opted for demolition for obvious reasons.

Also, it was a precursor to serving notices to Chandrababu’s Undavalli residence. During the initial years, the Jagan Government issued several notices to Babu’s residence as well. But the court stopped the Government.

And then, they did not do proper water management during Floods so water enters Chandrababu’s residence and it can be proved illegal. But nature did not co-operate with Jagan.

In the same road as Praja Vedhika, there are many houses and Guest Houses including one belonging to a BJP leader. But Jagan did not touch any building or serve notice to anyone except Chandrababu.

The scrap of Praja Vedhika has not shifted in the last five years. Whenever Chandrababu leaves his house, Jagan wants him to see the scrap. To derive that pleasure, the scrap is not lifted.

But then, there are demands now that Praja Vedhika scrap should be untouched and made a Site Museum like how Japan converted some bombed sites of World War II to inspire future generations and inform them about Japan’s resurrection.

Here Praja Vedhika remains will be a testimony to Amaravati’s resurrection.

Praja Vedhika demolition actually was the first step for Jagan’s humiliating defeat from 151/175 to 11/175. The remains in fact will haunt him forever.
