Popular election strategist Prashant Kishor, who previously worked for YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party, has predicted that Jagan will lose the 2024 elections by a huge margin. He re-affirmed this prediction in every interview over the last few months.
On the other side, Jagan Mohan Reddy remains confident in his victory, claiming that he will surpass the number of seats he won in the 2019 elections with the help of Prashant Kishor.
In a recent interview, when asked about Jagan’s statement, Prashant Kishor stated that no leader ever admits they will lose before the election results are announced.
“Whether it’s Jagan Mohan Reddy, Rahul Gandhi, or Amit Shah, everyone says they will win the elections. In my 10 years of experience, I’ve never seen anyone accept defeat before the elections,” he stated.
“Even on counting day, if their party is trailing after four rounds, they’ll still claim their party will start gaining majority from the next round,” he added.
Responding to Jagan’s statement of a bigger win than in 2019, Prashant Kishor said, “If they win more than 151 seats, then the embarrassment is on me. If they don’t and my prediction becomes right, the embarrassment is on Jagan Mohan Reddy.”
Prashant Kishor asserted that one needs to be cautious in making such predictions. He explained that this is why he never predicts the results and majorities of specific seats and focuses instead on the overall trend based on the national wave.
