Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with chief ministers of all states on Saturday via video to decide whether the nationwide lockdown should be extended beyond April 14th. The several States already openly advocated the extension so this may be just a formality.
A few Chief Ministers including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy are advocating to relax the Lockdown in the districts where there are no cases so far. That may be discussed tomorrow. Buzz in the Delhi Circles is that the Prime Minister is likely to address the nation tomorrow to make the announcement.
Odisha became the first state the other day to announce the extension of the Lockdown till the 30th of this month. Sources say that Telangana Cabinet will meet tomorrow and may also follow the suit. If the Prime Minister’s address is confirmed, the Government will wait and see what the Government of India decides.
Across the nation, there are 6,412 cases, according to the stats available with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Unofficial numbers say the cases will be more than 7,000. In Andhra Pradesh, there are 365 cases, while Telangana recorded 471 cases.
