The Telangana Cabinet has space for two members. While one seat will go to a BC leader, another will be filled with a Reddy leader. Till now, it was believed that Munugodu MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy will finally be inducted into the Cabinet.
Rajagopal Reddy has declared, demanded and persuaded the party top leaders to give him a Cabinet berth as promised prior to the Assembly elections. However, looks like his hopes are now completely shattered. CM Revanth Reddy has announced in Parigi that he will be giving the municipal portfolio to Ranjit Reddy. Ranjit Reddy happens to be an ex MP who lost during previous elections from Chevella. If Ranjit Reddy is accommodated, Rajagopal Reddy will once again remain just an MLA.
There is talk that there could be a Cabinet reshuffle and Rajagopal Reddy might still get a spot. However, Congress leaders say that only two seats will be filled and might be no reshuffle.
With CM’s announcement, one thing is clear. There are going to be inductions. Cabinet expansion is surely on the cards. However, anticipating this, many leaders have been lobbying for a berth especially in combined Rangareddy district. Hence, there wad talk that either Malreddy Rangareddy or Nalgonda Munugodu MLA Rajagopal Reddy might be given a berth.
Meanwhile, in Parigi, CM Revanth Reddy specifically lauded the efforts of Ranjit Reddy and suggested to the people that they develop the region together. He said that he will identify issues that need to be addressed in all municipalities and refer to Ranjit Reddy who will be getting the municipal portfolio. Revanth Reddy said that he would give funds to all municipalities in Chevella.
Coming back to Ranjit Reddy, he won the Chevella MP seat in 2019 on BRS ticket. He later jumped into Congress prior to the polls and contested from Chevella. However, he lost in 2023.
He has been active in Congress since then and he was made the coordinator for municipal elections in Chevella. Now that Revanth Reddy surprised all by announcing not just the name but also the portfolio, Ranjit Reddy’s supporters are celebrating. On the other hand, there is silence in the camp of Munugodu MLA Rajagopal Reddy for now.
