A woman volunteer filed a criminal defamation petition against Pawan Kalyan, the Jana Sena Chief, in the Vijayawada City Civil Court. The petition was scheduled for a hearing yesterday, and people were closely watching the court’s proceedings.
The latest reports suggest that the court has returned the volunteer’s petition, saying that the volunteer needs to submit more proofs on how Pawan Kalyan’s statements caused harm to the reputation of volunteers. It also added that the petition doesn’t fall under their jurisdiction.
The petitioner had claimed that Pawan’s remarks during the Varahi Yatra in Eluru had caused immense mental distress to the volunteers.
The women volunteers were seeking justice and demanded the court invoke Sections 499, 500, 504, and 505 of the law against Pawan. They insisted on a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action for his alleged defamatory statements.
