Cabinet Reshuffle in Telangana Soon?

Revanth Reddy Delhi visit for Cabinet reshuffle

CM Revanth Reddy left for New Delhi on Saturday, sparking strong speculation of a Cabinet reshuffle in Telangana. Congress sources say the party high command is unhappy with the ongoing infighting among Ministers, which is reportedly hurting the party’s public image.

The Chief Minister is accompanied by Telangana Congress chief Mahesh Goud, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka. Though the visit is officially linked to finalising District Congress Committees (DCC), insiders suggest that Cabinet changes will also be discussed.

A crucial meeting is scheduled at the Congress office in Delhi at 3 PM, to be attended by Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and senior Congress leaders. Sources indicate that the high command is concerned about the repeated public clashes between Ministers.

Recently, tensions rose between Ministers Konda Surekha and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy after Surekha accused Ponguleti of interfering in the works of Medaram Jatara. The situation worsened when reports emerged of Surekha and her husband allegedly threatening a cement company owner at gunpoint. Following this, police searched for an OSD at Surekha’s residence, prompting her daughter to criticise the CM and Ministers in front of the media.

The matter settled only after State incharge Meenakshi Natarajan’s intervention. Soon after, another row erupted when Ponnam Prabhakar allegedly insulted Adluri Laxman, leading to further rumours about his strained ties with Vivek. Reports suggest that Ministers have been arguing even during Cabinet sessions.

The controversy involving Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, which led to an IAS officer seeking VRS, has added to the party’s troubles. Observers say the high command is dissatisfied with the CM’s handling of internal disputes and lack of oversight.

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy is focusing on strengthening district-level leadership by completing the selection of DCC chiefs. According to Congress insiders, Uttam Kumar Reddy will present the plan to the leadership. However, many believe that a Cabinet reshuffle remains the top agenda of the Delhi visit.
