Telangana Forest Minister Konda Surekha has apologised to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for her daughter’s recent outburst. She said the incident was caused by misunderstanding and that Congress functions like a family where such things happen. “I am sorry for my daughter’s behaviour,” she said, adding that the presence of police at their home had triggered her daughter’s reaction.
Konda Surekha is facing criticism after her daughter, Konda Sushmita Patel, lashed out at the Chief Minister and party leaders following a police visit to their house. The police were searching for OSD Sumanth, which reportedly led to the heated exchange. Sushmita then called the media and made several allegations against Congress leaders, embarrassing the party ahead of the crucial Jubilee Hills by-election.
Facing backlash from both the public and within the party, Konda Surekha tried to calm the situation. Responding to BRS leaders who targeted her after the controversy, she remarked that KTR should “first love his sister” before commenting on her statements, attempting to deflect political attacks.
According to party sources, the Congress high command has warned Konda Surekha and her husband Murali to show restraint. They were also directed to ensure that their daughter stops making public remarks about the Chief Minister, his advisor, or Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. The couple was instructed not to interact with OSD Sumanth and to avoid further public comments.
Party leadership reminded Konda Surekha that the Jubilee Hills by-election is of high importance to Congress and that any internal issues should be addressed within the party structure.
