MLC Again For Prof Kodandaram

Revanth Reddy Kodandaram MLC announcement

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made a sensational announcement, stating that Prof Kodandaram will be reappointed as an MLC within 15 days. He revealed this while addressing a gathering at Osmania University.

The CM criticised the BRS for allegedly spending crores to push for Kodandaram’s disqualification in the Supreme Court. He reminded that it was his government that had initially appointed Kodandaram to the position.

On August 13, the Supreme Court annulled the nominations of Prof Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan. A final verdict is expected on September 17. The court stated that fresh nominations could be made only after the judgement is delivered.

BRS had approached the Supreme Court seeking disqualification of both nominees under the Governor’s quota. The party argued that former Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan had previously cancelled the nominations of Dasoju Sravan and Kurra Satyanarayana, claiming they were political appointees and not eminent personalities.

The Congress government now plans to renominate Kodandaram through a formal process involving state cabinet approval and the Governor’s assent. Legal experts are being consulted to ensure the procedure is carried out smoothly.

Prof Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan had earlier served as MLCs for a year before their nominations were annulled.
