Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has promised to transform Osmania University into an institution on par with Oxford University in the UK. He highlighted that the university has produced eminent leaders like PV Narasimha Rao, Chenna Reddy and Jaipal Reddy, and continues to be a hub for education and revolutionary ideas.
During his visit, Revanth Reddy inaugurated infrastructure projects worth ₹90 crore, including Dundubhi and Beema guest houses. He also laid the foundation stone for a digital library and a modern reading room to enhance academic facilities.
The Chief Minister praised Osmania University for its historic role in various social and political movements in Telangana. He noted that the institution has been a launching ground for IAS and IPS officers and recalled that the Congress government appointed the first Dalit Vice-Chancellor in the university’s 100-year history.
Reddy criticised the previous government for undermining the university’s spirit. He emphasised the importance of skill-based education and research-oriented learning to empower future generations. He urged the university to hold a meeting in December, assuring that he would attend and ensure a police-free campus environment.
Reiterating his vision, Revanth Reddy said Osmania University will be developed to global standards. He directed officials to list the resources required and form a committee to oversee the plan, promising complete funding support from the government.
