In the good old days, it was quite common for men to spread their wild oats as far and wide as possible. But the little twist in the tale is that women in 11 states and union territories disclosed that they had more sexual partners than men as per the survey.
But the two Telugu states defied the national trend, and men in the Telugu states have come out as being hornier than their counterparts in other states. All this is data according to the National Family Health Survey-5 (NFHS-5). The survey was done between 2019 and 2021.
While women in Telugu states had 1.7 sexual partners, the men had three partners on average. In Andhra Pradesh, women had 1.4 partners, while men had 4.7 partners. The 4.7 figure for men in AP is the joint third highest in the country.
Though there was a trend of showing bigamy in earlier films, in the previous decade, there was the formulaic hero gets the heroine format. But in this decade, Telugu films have been making many small and low-budget films that revolve around extra-marital affairs and multiple sexual partners. Also, getting married multiple times is more or less being socially accepted these days. We have all read predictions about a politician-superstar who could be marrying for the fourth time. Well, he is already in his third marriage. So is the case with a senior character artiste who is all set to marry a fourth woman.
So, it is little wonder that Telugu men who are projected as macho on the big screen and as lover boys in television serials are not simply fictitious characters. The survey shows Telugu men do have wandering eyes and do not shy away from changing partners. So, beware all you women, it’s lust that lasts over love, at least for Telugu men!
