The 14-year-old girl is quite amazed, looking at herself as the face of Forest Essentials, who cast her in their new campaign Yuvati Selections. Little did the Dharavi girl dream of becoming a model, and little did she know that success would come to her in the glamor world.
But some miracles happen, and it was one such miracle that changed the life of Maleesha Kharwa forever. Today, she has a portfolio that has a few impressive names, one of which happens to be Cosmopolitan.
Maleesha was spotted by American actor Robert Hoffman in India’s biggest slum, Dharavi. She lives in a small, temporary space with her parents, brother, uncle, and grandparents beside the sea. Maleesha’s reel on Instagram, where she sees herself as the model, is quite heart-touching.
But the smile speaks volumes about why the teenager was chosen to be a model. With a face contour that many girls would die for, Maleesha has won the hearts of all and appears to be quite a pro going by her work so far.
It’s hard to believe that Maleesha, the model, is the same girl who was doing small chores and living happily with her family in Dharavi. When asked if she feels sad living in Dharavi, Maleesha says she is surprised by the question as she is quite happy and adds that she misses a roof as the monsoons in Mumbai can be quite severe.
Maleesha regrets that she and her brother don’t get enough to eat often and that there is no water at times. But for now, Maleesha is thoroughly enjoying her new journey and has already posed for ads and popular publications.
