Fake Ghee Case: Supreme Court Leaves It To AP Govt

Supreme Court hearing Tirumala case

The Andhra Pradesh government recently appointed a one-man committee to look into the administrative lapses in the Tirumala adulterated ghee scam. The committee will be led by retired IAS officer Dinesh Kumar to examine CBI-led SIT’s recommendation to look into administrative lapses in the case.

Now, the Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Suryakant and Joymayla Bagchi heard the writ petition filed by Subramanian Swamy saying that the parallel inquiry would affect the criminal investigation being led by SIT constituted by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court on Monday, February 23, refused to meddle with the one-man committee appointed by the Andhra Pradesh government to look into the lapses that occured in the Tirumala adulterated ghee case.

The Court noted that since SIT completed the criminal inquiry and submitted a chargesheet and supplementary chargesheet, the Court felt there was no reason for apprehension.

Going back to 2024, AP CM Chandrababu had alleged that animal fat was used in the laddoos. In 2024, Supreme Court constituted SIT to look into the matter. In January, 2026, SIT submitted a report saying there was no animal fat but the ghee was adulterated with multiple contaminants.

The new ruling by the Supreme Court reinstates faith in the legal system as it prevents fizzling out of the matter which involves the faith of scores of devotees.

Though the matter has been in news for the past two years leading to allegations and counter allegations between the ruling TDP and opposition YSRCP, justice might happen as people are waiting for those involved in adulteration punished.
