Indian elections are largely influenced by money and there’s no debating this fact. For anyone wondering how or why, here is an example related to the Tamil Nadu assembly elections that are being held tomorrow.
Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be starting first thing in the morning tomorrow, and this will decide the fate of the state for the next five years.
But just hours before the polling process starts something expectedly bad is happening in parts of Tamil Nadu.
In a few viral videos that are being shared on social media, we get to see people posting about receiving gold nose rings and other items in the party manifestos. This is clearly an attempt to bribe the voters for their vote the night before the election.
Fundamentally, this is clearly opposed by the election commission as it’s against the electoral spirit. And more importantly, today is the cooling period in the state and no kind of electioneering and campaigning must be done.
But this is not stopping certain political parties from doing what they usually do to influence the voters. The golden ornament is a clear demonstration of this fact and it perhaps perfectly describes the South Indian political landscape.
